Pune, Dec 6: After the infamous slapgate row and escaping unhurt after a ceiling fan fell on dias, Agriculture minister Sharad Pawar for the third time escaped as a boom barricade came crashing down and missed his head at his residence in Modi Baug building, Ganeshkhind Road, Pune.

The incident took place when Pawar was returning home with more than 500 supporters of the Nationalist Congress Party surrounding him, who became uncontrollable seeing their leader. The supporters had come to meet him as they were concerned about his health. They shouted slogans 'Pawar saheb aage badho (Go ahead Pawar Sir)' and started pushing each other in order to take his pictures.

"Apart from the party workers, there were several aspirants who wanted to contest the upcoming civic polls, adding to the huge number people gathered there," said Ranjit Pardeshi, NCP organisational secretary.

He was earlier slapped by Harvinder Singh, who is claimed to have slapped former Telecom Minister Sukhram. Sharad Pawar later escaped unhurt when a ceiling fan fell on the dais, where he was addressing a seminar organised by the Indian Council of Agriculture Research (ICAR).
