Karnataka's Udupi emerges as new terror hub
The stunning revelation came out after the initial investigations into the explosives and arms that were recovered from Indian Mujahideen modules.
Sources reveal that the explosives used in the blasts at Pune"s German Bakery and Bengaluru"s Chinnaswamy Stadium were obtained from Udupi.
Though there were reports earlier of Udipi being a terror hub, this time the information is 'more concrete' said sources.
After the recent arrest of the six Indian Mujahideen terrorists, reports reveal that explosives were sourced for both Pune and Bangalore blasts from an Udupi contact.
“We managed to get leads about some suspects and networks in and around Udupi who have helped terror modules with logistical support," a senior official said.
Earlier, police had recovered over 5 kgs of explosives and two AK-47s from Udupi.
It is also suspected that members of banned terror outfit Simi operating in Udupi have had hand in giving logistical aid to terror modules in Southern India.
