New Delhi, Dec 6: Vice President of India and Rajya Sabha chairman, Mohammad Hamid Ansari is likely to meet the chairperson of the Parliamentary panel on Lokpal Bill, Abhishek Manu Singhvi on Tuesday (today) to seek explanation on why he needs one more week to prepare the final report. The panel was supposed to submit its report by Dec. 7.
The Lokpal bill, which does not include the lower bureaucracy and the CBI, has received strong protest from anti-corruption crusader Anna Hazare. The Standing Committee on Lokpal Bill on Monday (Dec 5) asked for one more week to submit its report in the Parliament.
The latest development has come when team Anna has decided to step up its attack on the government over the passing of a strong Lokpal Bill. Earlier, Anna Hazare had threatened to hold a fresh protest if the panel failed to include the lower bureaucracy and judiciary in the ambit of the Lokpal Bill.
