Bhanwari case: Ex-Rajasthan Minister Maderna to be jailed
Maderna was produced before a Jodhpur court on Saturday (today), a day after he was arrested by the CBI.
A chargesheet was filed on Friday (Dec 2) against the three accused; Shahbuddin, Sohanlal and Baldev for abducting Bhanwari on the behest of Maderna and Parasram Bishnoi, the brother of Congress MLA Malkhan Singh. They have been charged with Section 364 (abduction with an intent to kill) and 120 B (criminal conspiracy) of Indian Penal Code and various sections of Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribes (Prevention of Atrocities) Act in the case.
Bhanwari Devi had gone missing from Bilara area, Jodhpur since Sept 1. Mahipal Maderna was later sacked by Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot from the state cabinet on Oct 16 over his involvement in the case. Earlier, CBI had found some CDs, allegedly showing Water Resource minister Mahipal Maderna in a compromising position with the 36-year-old nurse.
