China to unveil world's first '3D' TV channel

Beijing, Dec 1: The Chinese government on Thursday (today) announced that they will launch their first 3D television channel on Jan 1, 2012. Hence, television viewers in China can expect a totally different, crystal clear viewing experience.

According to Xinhua report, the 3D channel will go into official operation during the Lunar New Year Festival in late Jan in the coming year.

Cai Fuchao, head of the State Administration of Radio, Film and Television said, "We have officially started preparations for the country's first experimental 3D TV channel and have issued two technical guidelines on the production and airing of 3D television programmes and 3D television signal transmission."

Meanwhile, the 3D channel will be launched through joint partnership with six TV stations, including China Central Television.
