According to sources, Kanimozhi hugged the female co-inmates of the sub-jail number six, where she has been living for the last seven months. Media reports quoted jail sources as saying, "Kanimozhi was happy and emotional at the time of leaving the jail. She hugged the female co-inmates, donated her TV set for others' use, thanked jail officials."
Kanimozhi received a hero's welcome when she walked out of Tihar Jail on Tuesday (Nov 29) evening at around 7:30 pm. She was granted bail by the Delhi High Court on Monday after spending close to 7 months in jail.
The DMK party is rejoicing the release of Kanimozhi, with the most happiness expressed by DMK supremo M Karunanidhi, who had pulled all stops to secure his daughter's release.
She is expected to reach Chennai on Dec 3. Kanimozhi was received by senior DMK leaders like MK Alagiri, TR Baalu, Elangovan and others when she walked out of jail. To avoid media, Kanimozhi took a different route to come out of the prison.
With some grand celebrations expected when Kanimozhi reaches Chennai on Dec 3, party leader Karunanidhi had promised Kanimozhi a position of prominence within the party.
