It has been suspected that Joseph met with the The Asian Age journalist Jigna Vora, who was arrested a few days back over the case. Joseph was arrested on Sept 5 and is currently lodged in the Arthur Road jail
"We have moved an application in the MCOCA court today seeking Joseph's custody as we want to question him again in connection with Dey's case," said Ashok Duraphe, assistant police commissioner (Crime). Arguments on the application will be held on Thursday, he added.
"We want to know what Joseph and Vora had spoken if they had met. We want both of them to confront each other and ask some questions that will clear the picture," the source said.
MiD-DAY reporter Jyotirmoy Dey who headed the special investigative team in the newspaper was shot dead on Jun 11 by few unidentified bike-borne assailants. Dey was believed to have been working on an oil mafia story at the time of his death. It was being suspected that the oil mafia head could be the man behind the murder.
Vora (37), Deputy Bureau Chief of The Asian Age, was arrested on Friday under the stringent Maharashtra control of Organised Crime Act (MCOCA) for her alleged role in the murder of Dey.
Meanwhile, Joseph was lodged at the jail before Dey's murder. He was arrested in the Pakmodia street firing case.
