Kanimozi and other accused in the 2G spectrum scam, who got bail on Monday, could not leave the prison on Monday as Delhi High Court's order regarding their bails did not reach Patiala House by 5 PM on Monday.
Meanwhile, DMK Supremo and Kanimozhi's father, Karunanidhi said, "The court formalities have to be completed. I don't know when she will arrive in Chennai." However, DMK leaders and workers started celebrating over the news that Kanimozhi would be out of the jail.
Reports reveal that the CBI did not oppose the bail applications of Kanimozhi and Cineyug founder Karim Morani in the trial court. However, Former Telecom Secretary, Siddharth Behura was not granted bail in the case.
Apart from Kanimozhi, Kusegaon Directors Asif Balwa and Rajeev Agarwal, Cineyug founder Karim Morani, and Kalaignar TV's MD Sharath Kumar have also been granted bail on sureties of Rs 1 lakh each and on condition not to leave the country without prior permission. The DMK MP has also been asked to submit her passport.
Kanimozhi, who was arrested on 20 May, 2008, was accused of allegedly accepting Rs 200 crore bribe for Kalaignar TV - where she owns a share of 20 percent.
