Greed for Money: Mumbai lady killer kills roomie's granny
26-year-old Nasreen alias Annu Iqbal Shaikh, who is a divorcee and has two kids, has been arrested. The victim, Mirabai Sitaram Sonawane was murdered and was left to a lonely place for several days.
Following a call from an unknown person, police identified the victim and came to know that Mrs Sonawane had recently sold out her house and was returning home with Rs 1.4 lakh cash and other jewelleries.
After conducting a minute investigation, it has been revealed that the victim's grand-daughter Bhagyashree Sonawane had asked her room-mate to accompany her (Bhagyashree's) granny to the bank.
Police said, "Sonawane had just sold her house and was to get an initial amount of Rs 1.35 lakh that she needed to withdraw from a bank in Bandra. Her granddaughter Bhagyashree asked her roommate Nasreen to accompany her grandmother."
According to sources, Nasreen has been accused of strangling the old lady and fleeing with all the money and jewelleries. After a thorough search for Nasreen, who was absconding since committing the crime, police arrested the accused.
