Two days back, Anna had applied to the civic body for the allocation of Ramlila Maidan, where he had held the protest in August. Manish Sisodia, the member of team Anna, on Sunday said that the Municipal Corporation had given permission to hold the rally.
But Yogender Chandolia, current standing committee chairman of the MCD said, "they have sought permission from January 1 to January 15. But the ground (Ramlila Maidan) has been already booked for three days by somebody else. We can't cancel that. Tomorrow, they may apply with changed schedule from December 27 to January 5. If they come with the NoC of Delhi Police, MCD will be considered. No permission has been given to them."
However, the team has not received a No Objection Certificate from Delhi Police without which they wouldn't be able to hold the protest.
Previously, Anna had announced that he will launch his agitation again at the end of the winter session if a strong Lokpal bill is not passed. This will be the third important protest in the national capital. First one was at Jantar mantar in April, when Anna forced the government to set up a joint committee for drafting the bill.
According to Anna's bill, the lower bureaucracy, higher judiciary, provisions for Citizen Charter and setting up of Lokayuktas in state level will be included in the ambit of the bill.
