26/11: Dirty political games at the event honouring Omble
With social organizations all set to honour the braveheart who lost his life in the valiant effort, both the Congress and Shiv Sena want to take the credit pie of unveiling Omble's statue. The statue was unveiled at the Yashwantrao Chavan Natygriha in Kothrud on Saturday 9am. The event was attended by Omble"s daughter Vaishali and brother Balasaheb. The bust will also be installed in Omble"s village in Satara district.
The bust was made by Pune-based Mahesh Pawar, who is the President of Abhiyan Pratishthan. The bust unveiling ceremony was organized by three social organizations namely the Abhiyan Pratishthan, Samarpan Youth Forum and Shiv Sangram.
The President of the Samarpan Youth Forum, Umesh Bhelke commented, "We raised funds for making the statue of Tukaram Omble, who sacrificed his life for the nation and managed to nab Kasab. Kasab"s arrest exposed Pakistan"s involvement in the terror attack."
Bhelke added, "Next month the statue will be installed at his native village, Kedambe, in presence of Home Minister R R Patil. The statue will be first unveiled in Pune on Saturday. Among the eminent guests at the function will be Dajikaka Gadgil and Col. Sadanand Salunke. Omble"s daughter Vaishali and brother Balasaheb, who is also the sarpanch of Kedambe village, would expressing their feelings on the occasion."
