Balrampur (UP), Nov 24: Rahul Gandhi faced protests, the third time in as many days, over ticket distribution for the coming Uttar Pradesh Assembly polls when some party workers stopped his cavalcade and raised slogans.

The Congress general secretary was on his way to Tulsipur from Balrampur, nearly 160 km from Lucknow, and stopped at Ramaee Deeh by around 200 workers who raised slogans alleging ticket allotment to a turncoat while ignoring the son of a two-time sitting party MLA from Tulsipur constituency. The security personnel had to remove the protesters after which the cavalcade could move ahead.

Another protest was witnessed during a meeting at Utraula with party supporters venting their ire on Beni Prasad Verma and raising slogans against him. Though Rahul tried to pacify the workers asking them to listen to the veteran leader but they did not relent following which Beni had to retreat.

Rahul, who is currently on a visit to various central districts of the state since November 22, has been continuously facing protests over ticket distribution. Yesterday, a group of about 200 Congressmen protested at Rahul's meeting in Bahraich alleging disparity in ticket distribution. In a similar incident on Tuesday, some Congressmen jumped in front of his cavalcade at Amusi airport in Lucknow, protesting denial of ticket to Subodh Srivastava from Lucknow central seat.
