Key accused confess to CBI that Bhanwari Devi is dead

New Delhi, Nov 25: With the case of the missing nurse Bhanwari Devi causing a major showdown in the Rajasthan government, the whereabouts of the nurse is yet to be ascertained. With investigative agencies yet to find any clues on the nurse in spite of major arrests being made in this regard. Former Rajasthan Water Resources Minister Mahipal Maderna's involvement in the case is confirmed and others are being questioned.

Meanwhile, another main accused in the case, Shahabuddin has reportedly confessed to CBI officials that Bhanwari Devi was killed soon after she was abducted. With her body yet to be found and no other clues pointing to this revelation, the officials are continuing with their probe.

The case had shaken Rajasthan politics after it was alleged that Maderna was involved in an affair with Bhanwari. A sex CD had also surfaced that showed Bhanwari and Maderna in a compromising position.

A senior CBI official has been quoted as saying that "there will be a major arrest" in the coming days. The investigative officials are questioning all the accused to ascertain where Bhanwari's body has been dumped after killing.

Maderna, Congress MLA Malkhan Singh and other leaders in Rajasthan were questioned on the missing nurse case. Bhanwari Devi has been missing since Sept 1. The CBI has filed its second status report on the high profile case in the Rajasthan court. They claim to have made significant progress in the investigation and has named Mahipal Maderna as the key suspect. They had also requested a private hearing of the matter.

It was earlier reported that Bhanwari was blackmailing Maderna using the controversial sex CD that showed the duo in a compromising position.
