Baba Ramdev
New Delhi, Nov 25: After receiving harsh and strong words from the Supreme Court, Delhi police tried to defend themselves in the apex court on Friday, Nov 25. Trying to take a safe side, the police put all the blame on Baba Ramdev for creating chaos at Ramlila Maidan during his (Ramdev's) fast over black money issue.

The advocate representing the Delhi cops claimed that it was Ramdev's behaviour which led to the law and order problem at Ramlila Maidan. They said, "We were never told that it was an anti-corruption gathering. It was Because of Baba Ramdev's behaviour that police was forced to act."

"Delhi Police had just gone there to ask Baba Ramdev to vacate the premises. Delhi Police also had the fear of hooliganism, communal violence or any other untoward incident," clarified the police.

The cops also reminded that the yoga guru obtained permission to hold a yoga campaign at Ramlila with maximum 5,000 people but the number swelled to more than 50,000.

Here it can be recalled that the apex court Nov 21 had bashed Delhi police over their crackdown on Baba Ramdev and his followers at Ramlila.

Asking an explanation on their action against the yoga-guru, the apex court asked, "Explain whether the use of force was justified? What were the circumstance which led to the action and why the police could not wait till the morning to ask the people to leave the venue?"
