Citing the huge profit, which is believed to have surpassed all records of Telugu movies so far, Sunkara has come under Income Tax (IT) officials radar.
Following several rumours and news about huge profit and money, what the producer has earned after Dookudu, IT officials on Monday, Nov 21 raided his house and office. The sudden IT raid came as a shock to Sunkara and his well-wishers who were busy in celebrating the victory of the movie - Dookudu.
Here it can be recalled that earlier IT officials raided the residences and offices of famous Malayalam actors - Mammootty and Mohanlal. There were reports that the two superstar of Malayalam film industry have stashed their black money to abroad to avert Income Tax. The duo allegedly had planned to invest the huge amount of money in abroad.
The stars are also said to have bank accounts in foreign nations. Jewellery and various other expensive articles worth Rs 2.8 crore have also been recovered from the stars' houses.
The stars had earlier come out in open and admitted to having assets beyond their sources of income, agreeing to settle their dues. According to reports, the raids came after there was news of the actors selling the satellite rights of their movies.
The official statement from the Income-Tax came for the first time since the raid on Jun 22.
