Abdul Kalam turns recruiter; picks 6 IIM-A students
Kalam has become a recruiter this year to his office and has offered internship to six students from the institute. An official confirming news of the internship offer said that the students will be handling various social campaigns and roles related to rural development under Kalam. The official commented, "It is a good sign. It shows that an increasing number of these students are taking interest in social sector."
Only one student belongs to the post-graduate programme in agri-business management (PGPABM) while the rest were pursuing post-graduate programme in management (PGP). Denoting the students interest to opt for an internship in the social sector, a similar trend has been witnessed recently. Last year only saw 4 students taking up internship with Kalam.
Another Ahmedabad based organisation, National Innovation Foundation (NIF) hired 11 students this year that was a marked improvement from last year when they hired 4 students.
The summer placement in IIM-A ended on Friday. The highest number of offers was made by Tata Steel. The other recruiters were Aviva Insurance and Samsonite.
