Centre worried over leak of Lokpal Bill

New Delhi, Nov 19: The audio tapes of the lokpal bill have reportedly found their way out in the public domain, which is a great concern for the central government.

The audio tape contains the proceedings of the standing committees and the details of lokpal bill. Team Anna which is forcefully pushing for a strong lokpal, has also given their suggestions on the ambit of the legislation before the panel.

The tape was used to prepare the transcripts and Team Anna expected the tape to be safe under the custody of Lok Sabha and Rajya Sabha secretariats. The leakage could cause to the embarrassment of the members over the leakage of confidential proceedings becoming public.

Sources revealed that the fearful expectation is revolving around the comments of RJD chief Lalu Prasad and LJP chief Ram Vilas Paswan. The civil society may target the centre if Lokpal bill is not to its liking and they could used it for public campaigns.

Standing committee chairman Abhishek Singhvi was shocked over the issue and wrote to the Lok Sabha secretariat and CPWD giving emphasis to leakage of recording constitutes as breach of privilege.
