Mumbai, Nov 19: The CBI is carrying out raids in relation to the 2G spectrum scam at offices in Mumbai. It has been reported that search is on at the Vodafone office in Mumbai, Airtel office in Gurgaon and residences of former Telecom Secy, Shyamal and ex-BSNL director, JR Gupta.

The CBI is understood to have filed a fresh FIR with regards to the case. The new case pertains to allocating additional spectrum during the NDA regime under Pramod Mahajan's tenure as Telecom Minister. The CBI is currently probing the irregularities in spectrum allocation during NDA rule.

Bharti has responded to the allegations saying that they were given spectrum only as per govt policy and that they are ready to reveal the correspondence to clear their name following the raids. Bharti Airtel in its statement said, "We would like to categorically state that all the spectrum allotted to us from time to time has been strictly as per the stated Government policy. We are providing all details and correspondence to the authorities and shall provide complete support as needed in the matter."

Vodafone also issued a statement following the raids that read, "There was a visit by CBI officials this morning at our office in Mumbai and Delhi seeking information related to the spectrum allocation to operators during 2001-02. All our documents are in complete compliance with the governing laws and regulations."
