London, Nov 18: Itai Gondo, the friend of renowned cricket columnist Peter Roebuck, told the media that Roebuck has ruined his life, after he was sexually assaulted by the cricket writer. Roebuck committed suicide fearing arrest in the sexual harassment case.
"I was in shock and told myself that it couldn't be happening," said Gondo.
Gondo, a Zimbabwean refugee, approached Roebuck through a university pal of the 17 "adopted sons", runned by Roebuck. According to the Sun, Gondo was in contact with Roebuck through Facebook.
Roebuck asked the victim to refer himself as his father and spoke of his devotion towards his sons. Roebuck offered help for Gondo's university fees.
Gondo met with Roebuck in a Cape Town hotel where he was sexually assaulted. He (Roebuck) stopped the act only when his phone rang.
Gondo complained the cops about the issue and the police went to his hotel to arrest him. But Roebuck jumped off from the window to his death.
