Set to kickstart the campaign from Jawaharlal Nehru's constituency of Phulpur on his 122nd birth anniversary, the occasion will see Rahul Gandhi's images splashed across media and the streets alike in UP.
The three top advertising agencies, Percept, Crayon and JWT that handled the Congress' 2009 general election campaign will continue their effort this time around as well. With a series of print and electronic advertisements planned, the ads will have punch lines and will essentially highlight the negative points of the ruling governments pertaining to development, crime, opportunities for youth and farmer's issues.
Every ad on Rahul Gandhi will end in the punch line "Jawab Hum Denge" (the Congress will give a befitting reply). The audio-visual campaign will start off from Nov 14. The creative inputs for the UP poll campaign is being provided by filmstar and Congress MP from Firozabad, Raj Babbar.
With Rahul taking pride of place in the hoardings and posters, the occasion will also see the young leader emerging from the shadows and taking center stage. With rumours that he will be elevated to Congress Working President has also gained momentum recently.
Raj Babbar has been quoted as saying, "Rahul is an icon of the youth, who make up a significant percentage of the electorate. His credibility is unchallenged and he is a clean, firm and committed leader who is going all out to connect with the weaker sections and the man on the street. He has the legacy and genes to envision a healthy and development-oriented UP and is the right face to bring about change."
With a slogan on the lines of 'voting for change', some of the catchy slogans reads, "Sabki Suraksha, Sabko Nyay; Gauravgatha ka naya Adhyaya" (Security for all, Justice for all, a fresh chapter in our proud legacy). Another slogan reads, "Ghar ki luti laaj ka, dum todti saans ka, patri se utre vikas ka, ab ek ek baat kaa Jawab hum denge" (We will give a befitting reply to dishonour, suicides and lack of development).
In a hard hitting comment on the rampant crime instances in the state, Rahul's team has formulated another slogan that reads, "Yuvayoon ke aakrosh ka, kisaanon ke rosh ka, doctors ki hatya ka, sare-aam jungle-raaj kaa. Jawab hum denge" (We will give a befitting reply to the angst of the youth and farmers, murder of doctors and rampant misrule).
