Sri Sri kickstarts yatra from UP today; Cong in knots?

Sri Sri Ravi Shankar
New Delhi, Nov 7: With the UPA's woes only set to increase, spiritual guru and Art of Living founder Sri Sri Ravi Shankar is all set to embark on an anti-corruption yatra from Monday. The three-day anti-corruption yatra will kickstart from Uttar Pradesh.

Reports suggest that Sri Sri will travel to Jaunpur, Sultanpur, Mirzapur, Amethi, Sonebhadra, Chandauli and Kanpur from Nov 7 – 10. The fact is that these districts are predominantly considered Congress strongholds.

With Cong having to face a setback following Team Anna's campaign ahead of the Hisar by elections, will the party face the same fate ahead of the UP elections next year as a result of Sri Sri's campaign remains to be seen. The UP elections scheduled for early next year is closely watched and is considered a game changer ahead of the Lok Sabha polls in 2014.

With Congress strategising on how to keep UP under their control, young blood in the party, Rahul Gandhi is also working hard towards the cause. Rahul is also slated to go on a yatra from Nov 14. [Digvijay aims guns on Sri Sri Ravi Shankar; alleges RSS link]

Sri Sri Ravi Shankar had to face many allegations, especially by Cong general secretary Digvijay Singh who said that he was part of the BJP's plan to ruin the UPA's reputation. He had gone ahead and said that, while Ramadev and Anna Hazare were RSS' 'Plan A and B', Sri Sri Ravi Shankar was their Plan C.

With Sri Sri extending his support to the anti-corruption movement launched by Baba Ramdev and Anna Hazare, this is the first time the guru is initiating a yatra on his own.
