The singer is currently hospitalised in the ICU ward, Kokilaben Dhirubhai Ambani Hospital, Mumbai.
"He is not as energetic as he was a few weeks ago. He developed breathing problems on Tuesday. I must say his condition has deteriorated," said Jayanta Narayan Saha, in-charge of media relations at the hospital.
Doctor, Shalendra Goel was joined by two other doctors to treat the composer cum singer.
"He is on dialysis now but his will-power is missing," he said.
"His doctor (Goel) called up and informed us that his blood pressure had dropped. They injected steroids into his system but he is still not responding well. Both his kidneys have failed and he is on dialysis. He has to be put on a very slow dialysis since he is very weak. The biggest factor going against him is his age," said Manisha Hazarika, sister-in-law of the singer.
Bhupen Hazarika was hospitalised since Jun 8 after he complained of breathlessness.
His condition however dropped after he developed pneumonia on Oct 23. He later had to undergo a minor surgery through which doctors placed a food pipe in his system.
He was brought to the Kokilaben Hospital in Feb but was admitted to the ICU in Jun after he suffered breathing problems and was put on ventilation but haven't made much progress since then.
