Better to fast in Manipur, Egg Rs 96/dozen, cylinder Rs 2000
Anyone will be shocked after coming to know the touching the sky price of vegetables and other daily usable things in Manipur. Here is a shocking list:
- Egg - Rs 96/dozen
- Tomato - Rs 80/Kg
- Potatao - Rs 50/Kg
- Onion - Rs 78/kg
- Petrol - Rs 200/litre
- LPG Cylinder - Rs 2,000
However, people in the same nation (apart from Manipur) are getting the same vegetables in a much lower price. The price of the above mentioned vegetables, petrol and LPG cylinder in Bangalore are mentioned below -
- Egg - Rs 36/dozen
- Tomato - Rs 30/kg
- Potato - Rs 30/kg
- Onion - Rs 20/kg
- Petrol - Rs 75/litre
- LPG Cylinder - Rs 370
However, bringing some good news for the people, the state government and the protesting Sadar Hills District Demand Committee (SHDDC) reached to an agreement which led the group to call off their economic blockade.
SHDDC leader, informing about their decision following the meeting with the government officials, stated, "We have decided to withdraw the blockade following assurance from the government to create a new district."
The strike was began on Aug 1 on two national highways - Imphal-Dimapur-Guwahati (NH 39) and Imphal-Jiribam-Silchar (NH53) demanding to convert uki tribal majority Sadar Hills area into a full fledged district.
However, another counter-economic blockade protest was launched at the same time by tribal Nagas inhabiting the area protesting SHDDC's demand of creating separate hill district.
