The police also said that they were confident of nabbing the culprits adding that the definite clues had been obtained in the case and special teams were being sent to Nagercoil in Kerala and Kanyakumari for further probe, said Madurai police sources.
The police suspect that Maoists who blew up a railway track in neighbouring Virudhunagar district few months ago could be behind the incident.
The police further said that they were also trying to find out if the supporters of slain al-Umma terrorist Imam Ali were involved in planting the bomb.
Meanwhile, Chief Minister, Jayalalithaa has directed the police to speed up the investigations into the matter and book the culprits.
The bomb was unearthed after a local resident of the village alerted the police and saved from the catastrophe to happen.
