Jammu, Oct 25: Opposing withdrawal of Armed Forces Special Powers Act in Jammu and Kashmir, VHP today (Oct 25) said though militancy in the state has reduced, it is not completely wiped out.

"We oppose withdrawal of AFSPA in JK. Militancy in the state has reduced but training centres in Pakistan are working round-the-clock to train youths to carry out destructive activities in JK and other parts of the country as well," VHP state president Rama Kant Dubey told reporters here.

He alleged Chief Minister Omar Abdullah is "blackmailing" the Union government to withdraw AFSPA clamped in the state since last two decades.

"The Centre should go by the ground realities instead of pleasing their coalition partner at the cost of Nation...It is certain that if it go by the advice of the Chief Minister in doing away with the AFSPA, the situation in the state may go back to early 1990's, making it impossible for security forces to control it (militancy)," Dubey said.

He said even defence personnel are not in agreement with the political arguments pertaining to prevailing situation in the state.
