MMS scandal: Husband rapes girl, wife films the act

Surat, Oct 25: The Athwalines police have arrested a couple for allegedly blackmailing and raping one of their employees in Majura, Gujarat.

The man, Juned Patel, who had offered the girl a job allegedly raped her, while his wife, Mamata Patel filmed the act and blackmailed the girl into paying Rs 2.5 lakh. The police also suspect that the couple who ran investment schemes might have duped many more people.

The accused, a resident of LP Sawani Road had put an advertisement in the newspaper for the requirement of female staff in their foreign exchange office, ITC building, Majura Gate.

The 23-year-old victim from Varachha was selected after she gave an interview in the firm for a monthly salary of Rs 8,000.

Tragedy struck her life after Juned mixed some drug into a soft drink and offered it to the victim in his office. He then raped her, while his wife filmed the whole act and also clicked some pictures of them. The couple then demanded Rs 5 lakh from the victim, who, with the help of her relatives and friends gave them Rs 2.5 lakh requesting them not to circulate the MMS.

Tired of being harassed despite the fact that she told Juned that she was unable to arrange more money, the victim finally lodged a complaint with the Athwalines police against the couple who were later arrested on Oct 24 from their office.
