Pune: Anna Hazare toy figures sell like hot cakes
The small figures made of clays for children are selling like hot cakes. The toy figures are being placed by children along with the figures of great Maratha leader Shivaji Maharaj and his warriors on their forts, said a report in MiD DAY.
Reports reveal that the demand has been so high that the figures were sold off the moment it was launched in the market.
Earlier Anna Hazare's life size figures were used in the decoration of Ganpati mandals during the 10 day Ganesh Chaturthi festival celebrations in support of the Gandhian for a strong Jan Lokpal Bill.
"Though the clay models were costly, children pooled money to purchase these without a second thought," said Kiran Kurle, a seller and distributor of toy fort clay figures.
"Hazare's clay figures were made by a Kolhapur-based artist and we only got 300 pieces, all of which were sold out in the first three days last week," Kurle said.
"Each six-inch figure of Hazare was sold for Rs 150 as it was made with white soil, which is costlier than normal soil," he added.
