K'taka HC annuls case against Kumarswamy & wife
An Advocate, Vinod Kumar, had filed a plea against Kumaraswamy and his wife Anitha, alleging couple's involvement in Jantakal Mining and Vishwabharati Housing Cooperative Society scams.
Vinod Kumar accused Kumaraswamy of misusing his power in allocating permission to certain mining companies during his tenure in 2006-2007. And bulk allotment of sites to a housing society and, as a quid pro quo, it had granted a site to his wife.
Karnataka HC, which was trying this case, dismissed the plea demanding Lokayukta probe and court proceeding against the couple.
However, Kumaraswamy cannot completely relax as there is another legal sword hanging atop of him. Justice Santosh Hegde, who headed Lokayukta probe into Bellary illegal mining, along with then CM BS Yeddyurappa, he also named Kumaraswamy in his final report.
The report was solely responsible for Yeddyurappa's political debacle sending him into jail over his possible participation in the mining scam.
Though no petitions have reached the court seeking the prosecution of Kumaraswamy based on reports, his name in Lokayukta draft in a corruption case, certainly a nightmare for the present MP.
