Chennai, Oct 20: Puthiya Thamizhagam will hold a state-wide demonstration next month demanding that the Tamil Nadu government take action against police officials involved in the Paramakudi firing incident, party founder K Krishnasamy said today (Oct 20).

"In the incident, seven innocent lives were killed. Our demand that the police officers involved in the incident be dismissed was not met. So, we are going to hold a state-wide demonstration in the first week of November," Krishnasamy told reporters here.

He also demanded that kin of the victims be given government jobs.

Seven persons were killed in the police firing at Paramakudi in Ramanathapuram district on September 11 when a crowd comprising mostly Dalits allegedly turned violent, following the arrest of their leader, John Pandian at Vallanadu in Tuticorin district.

The dalit outfit had snapped ties with the ruling AIADMK over the incident early this month, saying there was no ''visible change'' in the party leadership's ''attitude'' towards their community.

Krishnasamy also demanded a detailed probe into the alleged irregularities in the functioning of Tamil Nadu Public Service Commission.

"There should be a detailed enquiry. All legal glitches in taking action against the chairman and 13 other members should be taken and they should be brought to the book. If necessary, CBI should investigate the matter," he said.
