Lucknow, Oct 19: With the attack on Team Anna member Arvind Kejriwal, the focus is back on the lack of security for social activists in the country. With the perpetrator of the shoe-throwing exercise behind bars now, there are varying reports doing the rounds on the real intention of the culprit, Jitendra Pathak.

It has been reported that Pathak is a former member of Congress Sewa Dal and considers Rahul Gandhi his role model. Pathak claimed that he was not a mere party worker but was responsible for key areas in Jhansi, where Congress wants to establish a firm foothold. It is believed that he worked for the Congress from 2006-2009.

But, before everyone comes to the conclusion that the attacks were the handiwork of the Congress, it has also been reported that Pathak has been affiliated to the BJP and the SP earlier.

Speaking to reporters after his arrest, Pathak said that he had launched the attack after the organizers of the meet refused permission to Pathak to ask a question to Kejriwal. The police have also seized a note prepared by Pathak pertaining to the question he intended to ask. Kejriwal was attending a public meeting in Lucknow when the incident happened.

After the slipper was hurled at Kejriwal, Pathak was caught by the volunteers of India Against Corruption (IAC) and handed over to the police.
