Bangalore Metro kicks off on Oct 20;IT city set for makeover
Thinking of taking your dream ride on the very first day, then mark the date on Oct 20 when you will be able to make your ride at 4 pm and with regular services operational from 6 am. to 10 pm from the next day (Friday).
The first service is expected to be flagged off by Union Urban Development Minister Kamal Nath from M.G. Road to Byappanahalli at 10.30 am. This will be followed by a gala function to formally inaugurate the Bangalore Metro. The function will be held at the Field Marshal Manekshaw Parade Ground. The Bangalore Metro Rail Corporation Ltd. (BMRCL) has welcomed the public to be part of the glorious function that is expected to go on till 2 pm.
Bangalore Metro will start rolling from 4pm from M.G. Road Station towards Byappanahalli and back. This train will also make a stop at Trinity, Ulsoor, Indiranagar and Swami Vivekananda Road stations for 30 seconds each. The trains will run every 10 minutes till their last service at 10 pm.
Passengers intending to take the first ride on Oct 20, it should be remembered that only those with valid tickets can enter the Metro stations. Ticket sales and passenger entry to stations will commence at 3pm on the same day. The ticket sales will continue till 9:50 pm and depending on the demand for tickets, the service will be extended till 11 pm.
Normal full-fledged services will resume from Friday from 6am in each direction, the press release stated.
