Telangana stir hard hit railways; 124 trains cancelled

Hyderabad, Oct 15: As Telangana Joint Action Committee (JAC) called for rail-roko protest demanding a separate state, South Central Railway (SCR) on Friday late night announced cancellation of 124 passenger trains for a span of three days, to avoid any possible damage.

SCR also sounded partial cancellation of 38 trains, diversion of 68 and rescheduling of 19, including local trains.

JAC, in Telangana region, has planned for rail blockade from Oct 15 to 17, to press both Centre and state govt to concede for their demand of a separate state.

However, despite the state police assurance, that it would give a proper security to passengers, SCR in a release said that train services in Telangana region were likely to be affected..

According to the SCR release, Train services in the Secunderabad - Kazipet, Secunderabad - Wadi, Vikarabad - Parli, Nadikudi - Bibinagar, Secunderabad - Mudkhed, Vijayawada - Kazipet -Ballarshah, Secunderabad - Dhone, Dornakal - Manuguru, Nizamabad-Bodhan, Peddapalli - Jagityal, and Adilabad - Kinwat sections could be hit during these days.

"Long distance trains are being diverted via other suitable routes. MMTS (local) train services between Secunderabad and Lingampalli and Hyderabad and Lingampalli will run as per schedule, while MMTS train services between Falaknuma - Secunderabad and Hyderabad ? Secunderabad will be cancelled," the release said.
