New Delhi, Oct 13: Ruckus took place outside the Patiala House Court demanding early release of the attackers who beat up Prashant Bhushan over Kashmir comment.

The protesters outside the court demanded the release of the three assailants who have been sent to judicial custody for one day on Thursday, Oct 13.

According to eye-witnesses, the supporters of Anna Hazare were beaten up by a group of men. While some say the attackers were Sri Ram Sena activists, others claimed they were from Bhagat Singh Kranti Sena who had earlier claimed responsibility of the attack on the Mr Bhushan at his office in the Supreme Court on Wednesday.

While police arrested one attacker, Inderjit Verma on Wednesday, the other two - Tejinder Pal Singh Bagga and Vishnu Verma were taken into custody on Thursday morning.

Soon after the attack, Mr Bhushan stated, "They (attackers) asked (before attack) if I had said,in Varanasi, that referendum can be allowed in Kashmir. I said yes, it can be." Referendum is a popular vote by the electorate whether to approve a specific legislative act.

However, it has also been reported that Mr Bhushan was attacked as he, in an interview, had said that Kashmiri people should be given 'azadi' if they don't want to live with India and also reportedly recommended the withdrawal of Indian army from Kashmir.

Mr Bhushan was attacked by three persons who barged into his chamber in the Supreme Court. They brutally beat and dragged Mr Bhushan who fell on the floor. [Watch: Prashant Bhushan attacked]
