After I-T raids, now actor Mohanlal under Army scanner?
Reports have also emerged that the Indian Army might issue an advisory asking him to adhere to protocol. An Army official has been quoted as saying, "Such a report has come to our notice but that needs to be confirmed. We may issue an advisory if it is found correct." The Territorial Army (TA), however refuted any such report. An officer with the TA said, "We do not have come across any such development. Lt Col Mohanlal is abroad and we have not contacted him."
Mohanlal was awarded the coveted position and was given the honorary commission into 122 Territorial Army unit of Madras Regiment two years ago. The protocol stipulates that he can wear the uniform only during training sessions with the TA or any other ceremonial functions. In an open act of flouting norms, Mohanlal had donned the uniform to appear in a commercial promoting Kerala tourism.
Mohanlal has also earned considerable flak among various quarters when I-T officials raided the actor's residence and found undisclosed assets of rare and antique value. The case is still under investigation. Prominent voices in Kerala has demanded that Mohanlal was not qualified to retain the Lieutenant Colonel post.
