Telecom policy to come up with free roaming across country
The policy also aims at a 'one-nation-one-licence' regime, hence the difference between STD and local calls would also disappear. Separate licences would also be not required for the operations in various parts of the country and a single licence would be sufficient, said the policy.
"We will seek TRAI (Telecom Regulatory Authority of India) recommendations on new licences, migration to new licences and exit policy," said Kapil Sibal, telecom minister while releasing the draft policy.
The minister further said that the spectrum allocation will be linked up from licences and radiowave would be made available at fixed market prices. The government is also planning to bring in an exit policy as the market is full of players.
