Pro-Telangana activists block road transport; 100 arrested
Over Hundreds of vehicles including buses, trucks and cars were stranded at several parts of Nalgonda district as the Telangana Joint Action Committee (JAC), which is leading the Telangana movement, started a 24-hour road blockade. The police arrested over 100 activists who were blocking the vehicles coming from Vijayawada in Krishna district.
The protesters also blocked the road at the border point between Andhra Pardesh and Telangana region following which the authorities diverted some vehicles through Khamam district.
Several private buses were damaged by the protestors in Nalgonda district. The commuters from Vijayawada, Visakhapatnam, Eluru, Rajahmundry, Guntu use the Nalgonda district highway to reach Hyderabad.
Due to the movement, the people in the state are in massive trouble as the State Government Road Transport Corporation (RTC) services remained paralysed in Telangana for the 16th day. Private buses from Andhra to Hyderabad were also cancelled for the day.
