FIR against Swamy: PM to interfere to avert more 2G bombs?

New Delhi, Oct 4: Janata Party chief, Subramanian Swamy on Tuesday, Oct 4 demanded that the Prime Minister, Manmohan Singh should interfere to withdraw an FIR against him (Swamy).

Swamy, who has played the role of a whistle-blower in 2G spectrum scam case, said that the PM should ask the Delhi Police to withdraw a case file against the Janata Party over allegedly spreading enmity between communities. Citing Swamy's demand, many started asking - will Manmohan Singh withdraw the FIR to avert more allegations against Congress and UPA government?

The Crime Branch had registered a case under Section 153A (spreading enmity between communities) of the Indian Penal Code for his newspaper article in Jul 2011.

Here it can be recalled that after exposing the roles played by Home Minister P Chidambaram and PM Manmohan Singh, his (Swamy's) next target seems to be Priyanka Gandhi's husband Robert Vadra and DMK chief M Karunanidhi in the 2G scam.

Speaking to a popular TV channel, Swamy earlier had said that he had enough evidence to nail both Vadra and Karunanidhi in the 2G scam. He had also claimed that in spite of submitting documentary proof citing Chidamabaram's involvement, the CBI refused to question him.

Swamy, however is not completely devoid of fear, after there were threats issued by various radical groups in his name. He has therefore sought a safe government accommodation for himself somewhere in central Delhi. The matter was conveyed through a letter to PM Manmohan Singh dated Aug 23 where he stated that following the success of his petition on the 2G case and his “constructive views published in a newspaper on Islamic terror", there was a bigger threat to his life.
