Ahmedabad, Oct 3: A session court in Gujarat on Monday, Oct 3 sent a notice to the state government and state Director General of Police after admitting the bail plea of suspended IPS officer, Sanjeev Bhatt.

Bhatt was arrested from Gandhinagar on Sept 30 over a complaint by his junior, KD Pant who alleged that the former IPS officer forced him to file a false affidavit against chief minister of Gujarat, Narendra Modi. Bhatt was arrested for wrongful confinement and fabricating evidence.

Pant also claimed that he was forced to file a false affidavit against Modi that showed that the officer was present in the meeting where Modi allegedly asked cops to slow down during the Gujarat riots in 2002.

Meanwhile, the IPS officer's wife in a letter to the police control room expressed her fear stating that there was threat to Bhatt's life as his custody was handed over to the crime branch adding justice be done in the case.

Mallika Sarabhai and former Gujarat DGP R B, Sreekumar went ahead to meet Bhatt at the Crime branch office where they were not allowed to meet the estranged officer as they failed to take prior permission to meet him.
