Swami Agnivesh
Chandigarh, Sept 30: Swami Agnivesh finally received a breather after Punjab and Haryana HC granted an interim bail to him following the case of hurting religious sentiments. A case under section 295A of IPC was registered against Agnivesh on May 23, 2011 in Hansi subdivision of Haryana for calling Amarnath Yatra - 'a religious deception'.

One of the judges of the high court, Justice Rajesh Bindal had recused himself from hearing his bail plea, following which it was listed before Justice Gurdev Singh who granted him interim relief. The court has also issued notice to the Haryana government asking it to file their reply on the issue.

The court of sub divisional judicial magistrate (SDJM) of Hansi had issued non-bailable warrant against Swami Agnivesh on the basis of a case registered against him.

During his trip to Jammu in May this year, Agnivesh had said that he did not understand those who go for the yatra. "It is a religious deception. I do not believe in this type of religion," he said.
