2G approver: Anil Ambani's Reliance denies CBI's 'rumours'

New Delhi, Sep 30: Anil Ambani led Reliance group rubbished all reports stating arrested Reliance executives will be the approvers in 2G spectrum scam. Overruling such reports, company spokesperson on Friday, Sep 30 said that no Reliance charge-sheeted executive has expressed any intention to become 'approver'.

"Neither Reliance Telecom nor promoter group are beneficiaries of any telecom licence issued in Jan 2008," stated the spokesperson.

Reminding CBI's earlier decision, Reliance spokesperson said, "CBI's inference there may be undisclosed beneficiaries is unsupported by any evidence," and also added, "CBI Counsel clearly stated before Trial Court that Reliance not part of main 2G conspiracy."

Blaming the investigative agency, Reliance official also stated, "CBI now raising new issues to oppose bail to three Reliance executives."

Earlier it was reported that CBI has revealed to the Supreme Court that 3 senior executives of the Reliance Anil Dhirubhai Ambani Group (ADAG) who are under arrest may turn approvers. The result of the same will be that the “real beneficiaries" of the multi-crore scam will come to light.

The executives who are jailed at Tihar include Gautam Doshi (managing director, Reliance ADAG); Surendra Pipara (senior vice- president of ADAG and Reliance Telecom) and Hari Nair (senior vice-president ADAG). They took a complete u-turn in the Delhi High Court recently when they declared that they were only employees and did not benefit from the scam. They were being accused of conspiracy and abatement to cheating in the 2G scam.
