Policeman killed in hit and run by cabbie at DND flyway

New Delhi, Sept 29: After the truck driver was beaten up in Chandoli in UP for not paying a bribe to the RTO, another case has come to light where a cab driver to avoid being fined, ran over two traffic policemen leading to the death of one of them.

The cab driver was trying to flee since he was running an unauthorised taxi service and was working as a call center cab driver. The policemen were trying to stop him with the intention to fine him Rs 2000. The incident occurred at the Delhi Noida Direct (DND) Flyway.

The driver accused of running over the policeman is 22-year-old Yash Rai. He was driving a Chevrolet Tavera when he was stopped. The policemen, Head Constable Nehander Singh and Constable Ankit Tomar had to suffer the accident for doing their duty.

The cab driver put up a chase following the hit and run and was finally nabbed at the end of the DND Flyway. The injured policeman was taken to a nearby hospital and later shifted to the All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) after his condition deteriorated. He succumbed to his injuries during the course of the emergency operation. Singh died the same day his son was to be engaged. His family had requested him to take an off on the day the tragedy struck in a strange quirk of fate.

The cab was being used for the employees of Dish TV call centre.
