Andhra Pradesh
Hyderabad, Sept 29: Telugu Desam Party (TDP) MLA Gampa Goverdhan on Thursday (Today) resigned from the party and joined Telangana Rashtra Samithi (TRS) which is leading the Telangana movement for a separate statehood in Andhra Pradesh.

The resigned TDP MLA, who represents the Kamareddy assembly constituency in Nizamabad district, said that he has already sent his resignation to TDP president N. Chandrababu Naidu.

Goverdhan accused Telugu Desam Party of not taking a clear stand in support of a separate Telangana state. He had submitted his resignation as member of assembly to speaker last week.

"Respecting the sentiments of the people of my constituency and the entire Telangana, I have resigned from the TDP and decided to join TRS," said Goverdhan.

Gampa Goverdhan is the seventh MLA to resign from Telugu Desam Party since last year as the party did not clear their stand on Telangana strike for a separate statehood.

A total of 32 Telugu Desam Party MLAs from Telangana had already submitted their resignations on Sept 28 in support of a separate state.
