Indore, Sept 29: An Indore-based cartoonist has been arrested on the charges of insulting Islam since he refused to wear a skull cap during Narendra Modi's fast in Ahmedabad. He was arrested after a few Muslim community members complained that the cartoonist with a local Hindi eveninger fanned communal sentiments through a cartoon.

Harish Yadav alias Mussveer, 39, was arrested from his residence in Malharganj on Tuesday night. "Yadav has been booked under section 295-A (deliberate and malicious acts, intended to outrage religious feelings or any class by insulting its religion or religious beliefs) of IPC for the cartoon published in 'PrabhatKiran' on September 20," Malharganj police station in-charge Suresh Saijwar said.

On the other hand, Yadav said that the cartoon had been well appreciated by readers and accused the BJP members for trying to crush the freedom of expression.
