After Mining Czar Reddy; 750 indicted officers to be jailed?
Action has been taken against the same after suggestion from K Jairaj, additional chief secretary, head of the committee who formed to study the report.
The officers indicted in the report are from the police, forest, mines and geology departments. Principal secretaries of the respective departments have been authorised to issue the notices.
Four meetings were held by the committee at the divisional level before booking those indicated by the Lokayukta.
Mining czar Janardhana Reddy was arrested by the CBI in an early swoop on Sep 25 after the investigative agency found cash worth Rs 1.5 crore and more than 30 kg gold that led to his imprisonment.
Later Srinivas Reddy, Janardhan"s brother-in-law and managing director of the Reddys" controversial Obulapuram Mining Company (OMC) was also arrested by the CBI in the illegal mining scam.
