Pranab Mukherjee and P Chidambaram
New Delhi, Sep 25: Prime Minister Mamohan Singh might have got relief after citing the news that two of his most prominent cabinet ministers - finance minister, Pranab Mukherjee and home minister P Chidambaram have spoken for the first time since Pranab's letter created fresh controversy over Chidambaram.

Reports surfaced that the finance minister and home minister spoke on Friday, Sep 23 and tried to solve impasses which was believed to have created after a RTI report showed Pranab in his letter to Manmohan (in Mar 2011) said that Chidambaram could have prevented 2G spectrum scam in 2008 with "enough work."

Tremendous pressure to resign was created on Chidambaram following the statements in the letter. Manmohan Singh also faced several criticism for supporting the home minister.

The PM, showing his support to Chidambaram, said, "The Opposition's role is to oppose and there is nothing unusual in it. My ministers enjoy my confidence."

Pranab has not yet commented on the issue so far. Media reports, however, said that the finance minister may organise a press meet and may give a statement on the 2G spectrum issue in New York on Sunday, Sep 25.
