Anna Hazare Maunabrath
New Delhi, Sept 23: The face of India's fight against corruption, Anna Hazare has now threatened Maharashtra Chief Minister Prithviraj Chavan through a letter by saying that he would go on a fast-unto-death at Saint Dnyaneshwar Samadhi at Alandi near Pune if his version of Jan Lokpal bill is not passed in assembly by the end of winter session.

In reply to Anna's letter Maharashtra CM on Friday (today) said that "Anna Should not undermine the constitution."

Manish Sisodia, a member of Team Anna said that “Prior to this, Anna has written two letters to which he got no response. So as a last resort, Anna has written him that if the Bill is not passed, he would go on a fast-unto-death."

However, Maharashtra already has a Lokayukta and Upa-Lokayukta as per the Maharashtra Lokayukta and Upa-Lokayuktus Act, 1971.

Interestingly, in August 1999, the anti-corruption crusader had already sat on a fast-unto-death at the same place (Dnyaneshwar Samadhi) for ten days demanding action against corrupt officials by the Sena-BJP government in Maharashtra.
