Malini Murmu
Jamshedpur, Sept 22: Dead body of Malini Murmu - the IIM-B student, who committed suicide after being dumped by her boyfriend on Facebook, has been taken to her hometown - Jamshedpur on Wednesday, Sept 21.

Malini's parents and other relatives cremated her body at Parvati Ghat in Jamshedpur. One of the relatives of the deceased, Ramesh Hansdah, a former JMM General Secretary, claimed, "stringent action should be taken against the person whose action abetted the suicide move by such a bright girl." Parents of 22-year-old Malini already lodged a police complaint against her "boyfriend" - Abhishek.

In a spurned love story, the couple broke their relationship after an argument. On Sunday, Sept 18, Malini found a status posted by her boyfriend on Facebook that read: "Feeling super cool today. Dumped my new ex-girlfriend. Happy independence day."

Being depressed over the status she read, she committed suicide and in a suicide note left behind, she wrote that she committed suicide as her boyfriend left her. "He ditched me. This is the best I can do to take revenge," she wrote.

“Malini was forced to end her life as he scolded and abused her," the complaint said. Police have registered a case under Section 306 IPC (abatement of suicide)," said Bishwanath Murmu, the girl's father in his complaint who works with the Hindustan Petroleum Corporation Limited at Jamshedpur.

"We are yet to ascertain where Abhishek is staying. He is stated to be residing in Delhi, but there is no confirmation. We have very little information about him and his background. We are getting in touch with Delhi and Jharkhand police in this connection," said an officer.

The case is being probed and looked in from all angles to ascertain the reason of her death.

Malini had come to Bangalore 6 months ago to pursue higher studies. It is also claimed that she fell in love with Abhishek few months ago.
