Hyderabad, Sept 20: A major number of missionary and private schools in and around Hyderabad were bound to announce a holiday on Tuesday (Today), after the Telangana Joint Action committee (JAC) threatened them of consequences.

JAC leader M Kodandaram said all missionary and private schools in Hyderabad should be closed and participate in the ongoing general strike "respecting the sentiments of the people of Telangana". He particularly pointed out the names of Delhi Public School and Oakridge International School though he warned other private schools as well. However, he did not mention how long schools would remain close.

This is the first time in the ongoing demand for a separate state, the Telangana joint action committee has warned private schools. The quarterly examinations are scheduled to start from Wednesday, Sept 21 but, it may not be possible for school authorities to conduct the examination in the present situation.
