Bellary cash haul; police seize Rs 4.95 cr from truck
Sources have revealed that the cash was given to the truck drivers by Janardhana Reddy's men in Bellary to be delivered to a person near the check post in the outskirts of Hyderabad.
The mining republic of Bellary, infamous for the mining activities, had to witness this cash haul on the same day, which Reddy Brothers' close aide G. Somashekhar Reddy was grilled by investigative agencies. Somasekhar is the sibling of now jailed Janardhana Reddy and is a BJP legislator.
Officials revealed that the truck was intercepted just after crossing the Karnataka border following a tip-off. With the driver and cleaner of the truck in police custody, the police refused to divulge further details of the source of the money and identity of whom the cash was being carried to.
The CBI had summoned the other prominent Reddy duo, G Karunakar Reddy and Somasekhar Reddy for questioning on Friday. Meanwhile, the CBI officials continued their interrogation on Srinivasa Reddy, Managing Director of Obalupuram Mining Company for the third consecutive day.
The Reddy duo was arrested from their Bellary residence on Sept 5 by a CBI team from Andhra Pradesh.
