Azhar's son Ayazuddin died of hypoxic encephalopathy

Hyderabad, Sep 16: Ayazuddin the son of Moradabad Congress MP and ex-cricketer, Mohammad Azharuddin, died due to hypoxic encephalopathy.

"He died at 11.51am due to hypoxic encephalopathy (a condition when there is not enough oxygen getting into the brain)," said CEO of Apollo Hospital, Hari Prasad. [Read more: Hyd: Azharuddin's son Ayazuddin dies at Apollo Hospital].

"Ayaz was on ventilator support for six days. He suffered heavy internal bleeding while his brain became dysfunctional yesterday. One of his kidneys was also removed through surgery," he said.

Mohammad Azharuddin and other relatives were at his beside when he died, said sources in the hospital.

Ayazuddin along with his cousin 16-year-old cousin Ajmal-ur-Rahman went on a bike ride on the outskirts of Hyderabad on Sept 11 after which he met with a serious bike accident. His cousin died in an hour after they were rushed Apollo Hospital.

Doctors also performed a nephrectomy (removal of kidney) and removed Ayaz's left kidney which they said was required for his survival.

Ayazuddin was also warned over the dangers of speeding by officials in his college, his college principal Rama Rao informed earlier.

"Ayazuddin was an all-rounder. He was good at off-spin and also batting in the middle-order," his coach Maheshwar Singh said.

Ayazuddin will be buried in evening, said Asaduddin Owaisi, Hyderabad MP.

Chief Minister of Andhra Pradesh, N Kiran Kumar Reddy also paid a visit to the hospital along with some ministers.
